13 Mar Contemporary, inviting, and black
When Fat Sal’s of LA asked Green Polishing Solutions for help in replacing a heavy ceramic tile floor with a new look, we suggested black-stained concrete. We were certain that an attractive dark finish would work well, especially because of the restaurant’s neon lighting.
“The black floor just made sense in here, and its look is perfect for the space. It really adds to the overall look of our restaurant, and that makes a difference.”
GPS Solution: To start the process, we ground the existing floor. Then, because of the high traffic expected, we used two-part proxy paste before blasting the surface with sand to create a durable, slip-resistant surface. After vacuuming, we poured a 1/2-inch rapid set true decorative concrete overlayment. This was followed by an 8-pass grinding process that went from metal to ceramic to resinous diamonds, and finally to a lithium-based sealer. As expected, the final high-sheen product is truly spectacular in the client’s neon lighting.
