Terrazzo floors have made a comeback, as popular now as they were back when the lobby floor of a high-profile medical building in Sherman Oaks was completed years ago. Green Polishing Floors stepped in to replace that terrazzo with an updated version featuring a modern look and an elegant decorative finish.
“We were so impressed with the new terrazzo – it set a new tone for the whole building to have our lobby floor transformed so brilliantly. The new environment gave the whole building a contemporary feel it had long since lost.”
The GPS solution: We worked with the client and a designer to identify the desired look, crafting custom color green and blue rock and glass samples along with double-sided mirrors. We settled on using larger stones in this new version for heightened dramatic effect. We then demo-ed out the existing concrete, ground the floor, applied a two-part proxy with sand broadcast, and poured 1.5 inches of concrete with the chosen rock and glass mix. We polished with a series of grinders, each with nine diamonds, and finished with lithium-based sealers.
